The claim process involves medical documentation, financial evidence, policy interpretation, and ongoing communication with the insurer. Each of these is a point of failure for claimants who navigate it alone.

We review your policy, identify the relevant definitions and obligations, prepare the claim documentation, liaise with the insurer on your behalf, and where necessary, escalate disputed claims through the appropriate dispute resolution channels.

The value of claim assistance is not just administrative. Policy definitions, particularly for income protection and TPD, are technical documents. Whether a claim is accepted often depends on how the medical and financial evidence is presented against those definitions. An adviser who understands both the policy language and your personal circumstances is significantly better positioned to support a successful outcome than a claimant acting alone.

Fixed Fee Claim Assistance — No Surprises

Build MyWealth charges a fixed fee for claim assistance. There is no percentage of the claim benefit, no commission, and no ongoing fee arrangement tied to the claim outcome. You know exactly what the service costs before we start.

This matters because it means our interests are aligned with yours from the beginning. We are not incentivised to extend the engagement or to recommend policy changes. We are engaged for one purpose: to help you navigate a claim successfully.

Our fixed fee structure reflects the scope of each engagement. A straightforward income protection claim involves different work to a disputed TPD claim that requires escalation to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority. We will scope the engagement and confirm the fee in writing before beginning any work.

Who this service is for: Policyholders who have experienced a qualifying event and need to lodge a claim. Existing Build MyWealth clients whose claim event has occurred. Policyholders who have had a claim denied or disputed and need assistance with escalation. Individuals who are not current Build MyWealth clients but need independent claim support.

How the Process Works

Step 1 — Initial Review

We review your policy documents, the nature of the claim event, and the relevant definitions. We confirm whether the event is likely to meet the policy definitions and identify any documentation requirements or potential complications before lodgement.

Step 2 — Documentation Preparation

We prepare or review the claim documentation, including the claim form, medical evidence requirements, financial evidence, and any supporting material the insurer requires. Incomplete or poorly prepared documentation is the most common reason claims are delayed or disputed.

Step 3 — Insurer Liaison

We manage communication with the insurer through the assessment process. We respond to requests for additional information, clarify policy interpretation where required, and track the claim through to a decision.

Step 4 — Dispute Resolution if Required

If a claim is denied or disputed, we advise on the available escalation pathways, including the insurer’s internal dispute resolution process and the Australian Financial Complaints Authority. We prepare the escalation documentation and represent your interests through that process.

Yes. Claim assistance is available as a standalone fixed fee service. You do not need to be an existing Build MyWealth client to engage us for claim support. We will review your policy and the nature of the claim event before confirming whether we are able to assist and what the fixed fee will be.

We assist with life insurance, total and permanent disability, trauma, and income protection claims. We have experience with claims across the major Australian life insurers. We do not assist with general insurance claims such as home, motor, or public liability.

The fixed fee covers initial policy review, documentation preparation, insurer liaison through to a decision, and one round of dispute resolution if required. If the engagement requires additional scope beyond what was agreed at the outset, we will confirm any additional fee in writing before proceeding.

A denied claim is not necessarily a final outcome. Insurers have internal dispute resolution processes and policyholders have the right to escalate to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority. We have assisted clients through both pathways. We will review the denial decision, the policy language, and the available grounds for escalation before advising on whether proceeding is likely to be productive.
