Sangram Rana
Principal Financial Adviser, Tax Agent, and Director of Build MyWealth
My professional journey has been shaped by a deep appreciation for family and a desire to build upon a legacy of hard work and values. My upbringing instilled in me the values of humility and equal respect for all. My grandfathers served as significant sources of inspiration. One achieved the position of CEO at a prestigious bank, while the other earned the highest national award in his field, establishing connections with the nation's top dignitaries. Their success, coupled with my family's values, motivated me to carve out my own path in the world.
My journey began as an Accountant and later as a Tax Agent, providing me with a solid foundation in understanding the practical tax implications of building and safeguarding wealth. This knowledge led me to assist individuals with Self-Managed Superannuation and comprehensive financial planning. I find genuine excitement in crafting strategies that both protect and create wealth for my clients. The opportunity to simplify complex financial matters brings me joy, especially when clients benefit from my advice and are better equipped to fulfill their financial potential.
Currently residing in a picturesque beachside suburb of Melbourne with my wonderful wife, I maintain a healthy lifestyle by engaging in gym workouts and outdoor sports. I am also a member of Yarra Yarra Golf Club and host "Matcha and Wealth" workshops for corporate professionals who want to have the financial conversation in a less formal setting.

That combination of accounting, tax, and financial planning is uncommon in the advisory profession. It means I can see the full picture across tax, superannuation, insurance, and estate planning, rather than looking at each decision in isolation. For clients with complexity, that matters. It means the strategy can be assessed with the technical depth it deserves, without losing sight of the personal and commercial context.
General Advice Warning: Any advice on this site is general in nature only and does not constitute personal financial advice. Before making any financial decision, you should consult a qualified financial adviser who can consider your individual circumstances.
How Build MyWealth Works
Build MyWealth is a boutique practice led by me personally. I remain the adviser on every engagement, supported by a paraplanner and admin team behind the scenes. Clients deal directly with me for strategy and advice, without being passed into a call centre or junior handoff model.
The firm is structured around three pillars:
Protect My Wealth
Insurance, business continuity, and claim advocacy. We review existing cover against current income, family structure, and business interests. The most common finding is income protection set up at an earlier career stage that no longer reflects actual earnings or obligations.
Grow My Wealth
SMSF strategy, superannuation contributions, debt recycling, Division 296 planning, and tax structuring. We work with clients whose financial position has outgrown simple solutions and needs a coordinated approach across multiple entities and strategies.
Pass My Wealth
Estate planning coordination, business succession, and intergenerational wealth transfer. We do not draft wills or trust deeds. We coordinate the financial layer so that superannuation, insurance, trust distributions, and business agreements all align with the estate plan your lawyer has drafted.
Each engagement begins with a coordination review across existing structures, advisers, and objectives. The goal is not to replace what is already working, but to identify the gaps, conflicts, and missed opportunities that sit between the different professional relationships.
When Clients Usually Come to Us
Most clients reach out when something has changed or is about to change:
- ✓ Income is high but wealth is not compounding efficiently
- ✓ Multiple entities and advisers exist but nobody is coordinating between them
- ✓ Insurance is stale, wrongly owned, or has never been reviewed against current income
- ✓ A business partner relationship needs a funded exit mechanism
- ✓ A superannuation balance is approaching $3 million and Division 296 needs to be modelled
- ✓ An estate plan has not been updated since a marriage, a child, or a business restructure
If any of those sound familiar, that is the conversation we are built for.

Who We Are Not For
Build MyWealth is not the right fit for everyone. If you are looking for the cheapest insurance premium, a robo-advice portfolio, or a one-off transaction without ongoing coordination, there are good options for that elsewhere. We work best with clients who have genuine complexity across multiple structures and want thoughtful, long-term advice rather than a quick transaction.
