How We Work
A disciplined advice process for clients who need super, tax, insurance, investment, and succession decisions to work together.
General Advice Warning: Any advice on this site is general in nature only and has not been tailored to your situation and needs. Please seek personal advice prior to acting on this information. Most financial advice starts with products: which fund, which policy, which investment. Build MyWealth starts with coordination: how do the structures, strategies, and professional relationships you already have actually work together?
The most common gap in a high-income professional’s financial position is not a missing product. It is a missing connection between the accountant’s tax strategy, the lawyer’s estate documents, the insurer’s policy terms, and the superannuation fund’s investment mandate. These decisions are often made at different times, by different people, against different assumptions. Nobody is checking whether they still align.
That is where we start.
Three Pillars, One Coordinated Strategy
Every engagement is structured around three pillars. Not every client needs all three immediately, but the framework ensures nothing falls between the gaps.
Protect My Wealth
Insurance, business continuity, and claim advocacy. We review existing cover against current income, family structure, and business interests.
Typical triggers: income increase, new business partnership, birth of a child, property purchase.
Grow My Wealth
SMSF strategy, superannuation contributions, debt recycling, Division 296 planning, and tax structuring. We work with clients whose financial position has outgrown simple solutions.
Typical triggers: SMSF balance exceeding $500,000, Division 296 exposure approaching $3 million, salary sacrifice optimisation, business surplus extraction.
Pass My Wealth
Estate planning coordination, intergenerational wealth transfer, business succession, and trust structuring. We coordinate the financial layer so that superannuation, insurance, trust distributions, and business agreements align with the estate plan your lawyer has drafted.
Typical triggers: balance exceeding $3 million, estate plan older than three years, business succession without a funded mechanism, family trust appointor succession not documented.
What Happens in Practice
Step 1: Clarify the Full Picture
You tell us what prompted the enquiry. We listen. In the initial consultation, we ask questions about your current structures, professional team, and financial position. We are not selling a product. We are working out whether there is a coordination gap worth investigating and whether we are the right fit.
No recommendations are made at this stage, and there is no obligation to proceed.
Step 2: Pressure-Test the Structure
Once engaged, we conduct a comprehensive assessment of your financial position across superannuation, insurance, investments, estate planning, tax structures, and entity arrangements.
This is where Build MyWealth’s core review frameworks apply:
For SMSF clients: the Five-Point Liquidity Stress Test, assessing benefit payment readiness, concentration exposure, insurance alignment, contribution and drawdown modelling, and governance compliance.
For business owners: a business succession review examining buy-sell agreements, key person cover, ownership structure, and exit funding.
For all clients: a coordination review across adviser relationships to identify gaps, conflicts, and missed opportunities.
The assessment identifies what is aligned, what conflicts, and what is missing.
Step 3: Build the Strategy
We develop a documented advice strategy that addresses the identified issues in a coordinated framework. This is presented in a meeting where we walk through the recommendations, explain the rationale, and answer questions.
Where required, the recommendations are formalised in the appropriate advice documentation.
Nothing is implemented without your informed consent.
Step 4: Implement With the Right People
Once you approve the strategy, we coordinate implementation across all relevant parties: insurers, fund administrators, accountants, lawyers, and any other professionals involved. We manage the sequencing so each step happens in the right order and nothing is missed.
Your accountant handles tax and compliance. Your lawyer handles legal documentation. Build MyWealth coordinates the financial strategy across those moving parts.
Step 5: Review as Life and Legislation Change
Circumstances change. Legislation changes. Markets shift. We review regularly to ensure the strategy stays current. Each review reassesses the same coordination framework to catch any new gaps.
For clients affected by changing superannuation rules, including Division 296, the annual review may include modelling the interaction between contributions, investment returns, insurance premiums, and threshold management.
What Makes Our Process Different
Other advisers may assess your superannuation, your insurance, or your investments separately. We assess how they interact.
Strategy comes before product
We review tax, super, insurance, investments, and estate structures together
We work alongside your accountant and lawyer rather than in isolation
Implementation is documented and sequenced
Complex cases are reviewed through a structure-first lens
That is why clients with multiple entities, multiple advisers, and multi-generational complexity choose Build MyWealth.
What Happens After the First Meeting
The initial consultation is about fit, priorities, and whether a full engagement makes sense. There is no obligation and no product pitch.
If we agree to proceed, we provide a clear scope of engagement, a fee estimate, and a timeline before any work begins. You know exactly what you are paying for before you commit.
If we are not the right fit, we will tell you directly and, where possible, suggest someone who is.
